Taichung City Guide. November, 2014 EDITION:
In last month's note, I expressed some fear that September's record-setting heat would spill over into the following month. However, like clockwork, things turned more pleasant on October 1 and now, as I write this late in the month, it remains spectacular--completely cloudless skies, balmy daytime temperatures and cool, mild evenings.
Such has been the regular setting for my evening drives between the Taiwan Boulevard-Calligraphy Greenway area, where yet another wildly-successful Jazz Festival has been taking place, and my office west of the freeway on the lower reaches of Dadu Mountain. Along the way, I consistently enjoy taking in the city's glittering nightscape of busy shops and restaurants, giant department stores, tony-looking high-rises and busy traffic--all very cosmopolitan-feeling...
