Speaking of getaways, also check out the article on the Taichung CCK Airport in the "Taichung City This Month" section. I've long been a proponent of direct overseas air connections in and out of Taichung, believing it to be essential for further internationalization. A couple months ago, sitting in Hong Kong's Chep Lap Kok Airport waiting for a flight, I was delighted to look up at the "Departures" board and see Taichung listed as a flight destination. Today there are regular connections from Taichung to Hong Kong, Vietnam and China. However, as the article notes, our city's airport remains under-utilized. In other words, if you want to see more future direct flights from Taichung, make more use of our airport!
